You must always log in personally.
Are you filing VAT documents for at least one enterprise? You must then choose the profile on which behalf you want to access Intervat.
Are you an enterprise employee? To be able to continue to act on behalf of the enterprise (other than with a certificate), the legal representative (or equivalent function) must also assign specific roles to you, regardless of how you log in.
Step 1: to log into Intervat
How to get access to Intervat?
There are several alternatives to log in:
- with a Belgian electronic identity card (eID) or an electronic card for foreigners issued in Belgium. You need your identity card, your PIN code as well as a card reader.
- with itsme® (if you have a Belgian electronic identity card)
Without electronic identity card
You do not have a Belgian eID or an electronic identity card for foreigners? You have the following options for logging in:
- You can log in via eIDAS with your own national (i.e. non-Belgian) electronic identification means recognised at European level.
You need a ‘BIS number’ to use eIDAS. You do not have a BIS number yet? If you reside in a country that has implemented eIDAS, you will be able to obtain a BIS number when you log in to eIDAS for the first time. More information to log in via eIDAS. - You can register by visiting a 'registration office'. Make an appointment with the “Population” department of the municipalities which have a local registration office to activate your digital keys.
- If you do not have either of those login options, you can request access to Intervat via 'ForReg'. Select the domain 'VAT/CORPORATE INCOME TAX' when you fill in the ForReg form. In 'Choice of context' choose 'on behalf of a company'. In 'Company registration number' indicate your Belgian enterprise number (as found in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises).
- You can log in via eIDAS with your own national (i.e. non-Belgian) electronic identification means recognised at European level.

Step 2: select a profile
Identification screen with your different profiles
Once you have logged in with your digital key, an identification screen appears showing your different profiles in order to get access to Intervat :
either logging “in your own name”
or on behalf of an enterprise: your enterprise(s) as well as the enterprise(s) for which you are an authorised representative
Then click on “in your own name” or “on behalf of the enterprise” you want to represent.
If you choose to act in your own name, the returns filed will be linked to your personal identity and not to the enterprise's VAT number.
You can only act in your own name (without a VAT number)?
If there is only one available profile, you are automatically redirected to Intervat without going through this identification screen.
Do you file returns for your own enterprise?
On the identification screen, we recommend that you select the enterprise’s name as profile rather than act in your own name.
- Are you the legal representative?
- You can directly get access to Intervat and file your enterprise’s VAT returns. You don't need a mandate or a role.
- Are you an enterprise employee? To be able to file returns on behalf of an enterprise, you must have:
- the role “SPF Fin Désignation Propre Entreprise/FPS Fin Designation Own Enterprise” in My eGov role management
- with the property “Désignation TVA/VAT designation”.
More information on role allocation.
Once you have chosen your profile, you are logged into Intervat.
The following message appears in the Intervat header: “I am logged in for my own VAT number”.
-
If you file “per file” (XML), there must be no <ns2 :Representative> and </ns2 :Representative> tags in the schema.
-
If you file “per screen”, you do not need to fill in the “Representative” section.
- Are you the legal representative?
Are you filing returns for another enterprise with a VAT mandate?
On the identification screen, select as profile the enterprise that actually has a VAT mandate for the return you are going to file. Only enterprises with a mandate are authorised to act on behalf of another enterprise.
- Are you the legal representative?
- You need an active VAT mandate in order to file VAT returns on behalf of another enterprise.
- Are you an employee of an enterprise which is a legal representativ? You must have:
- the role “SPFFin Utilisateur de Mandats/FPSFin Mandate User" in My eGov role management
- with the property "Utilisateur de Mandats TVA/VAT Mandate User".

If the XML file contains even a single return for which you are not authorised, the entire file will be automatically rejected. You will therefore not be able to submit any return contained in this file.
