International parcels sent to Belgium. Joint communication of Bpost and the customs authorities

Anyone waiting for a parcel from a country outside the European Union wants to know where their package is, whether at the Customs office or at Bpost. Both authorities want to inform their customers of their respective responsibilities when importing parcels.

The General Administration of Customs and Excise (Customs authorities) is responsible for the control of goods entering the European Union (EU) and the taxation of these goods. Checks can also be carried out on European goods.

Bpost declares the parcels, delivers them to their recipients and collects any Customs duties as well as VAT.
