Products which are exempted from veterinary controls:

  • bread, cakes, biscuits and sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers, rusks, toasted bread and similar toasted products, chocolate, confectionery (including sweets);
  • food supplements packaged for the final consumer, containing Limited quantities (in total less than 20%) of processed products of animal origin other than meat products;
  • olives stuffed with fish;
  • pasta and noodles not mixed or filled with meat product;
  • soup stocks and flavourings packaged for the final consumer with less than 50 % of fish oils, powders or extracts.

Weight is per person.

If the weight exceeds the the maximum permitted quantity, the total quantity will be seized.

Commercial shipments shall meet the applicable import conditions (such as country of origin, holding of origin, certificate, control in GCP).

Protection measures within the framework of animal diseases also apply to personal imports.

(1) Conditions applicable to meat and milk products: the product does not require refrigeration before consumption; it is a packaged proprietary brand product; the packaging is unbroken unless in current use.

(2) Conditions applicable to fishery products (including fresh, dried, cooked, cured or smoked fish, and certain shellfish, such as prawns, lobsters, dead mussels and dead oysters): fresh fish are eviscerated; max. 20 kg per person or one fish if it weighs more than 20 kg. These conditions do not apply to the Faeroe Islands and Iceland.

(3) Conditions applicable to other products: the weight limit applies to the whole of the other products (such as honey, snails, eggs  = max 2 or 10 kg).
