If you are married or in a legal cohabitation, you must introduce a joint tax return with your partner.
In some cases, it is possible that your partner isn’t (wrongly) mentioned in your tax return.
If you are in this situation, you must take the steps mentioned below (even if you were able to file a joint declaration last year).
Regularise your situation
You are residing in Belgium
You must report your status as married person (or as legal cohabitant) to your commune of residence.
You are residing abroad and you are a Belgian citizen
You must report your status as married person (or as legal cohabitant) to the Belgian consulate or embassy of the country you’re residing in.
You do not reside in Belgium and you are not a Belgian citizen
Mail a marriage certificate or certificate of legal cohabitation.

You (and/or your partner) have a have a Belgian "national registration number" or a Belgian "bis number"? Mention it on the document. You will find this number on your Belgian identity document (identity card, residence permit,…) or on your Belgian income sheets (in some cases).

Fill out your tax return on paper
Mention your partner's contact information on the paper tax return.
First and last name
National number or bis number
Does your partner have a Belgian "national registration number" or a Belgian "bis number"? If yes, mention it under "Numéro national partenaire (NN)". You will find this number on your Belgian identity document (identity card, residence permit,…) or on your Belgian income sheets (in some cases).
If your partner doesn’t have a Belgian national registration number or a Belgian bis number, leave the field empty.
Complete the rest of your tax return and sign it.
- Mention all the codes and value concerning your partner in the second column of the tax return.
- Both of you must sign the tax return.
Can I file my return via MyMinfin (Tax-on-web)?
It is not possible to file your return via MyMinfin (Tax-on-web).
Have you saved or already sent your tax return in MyMinfin (Tax-on-web)? Send a paper tax return anyway. We will only take into account your paper tax return.
